A ceremony held in January honored five postdoctoral scholars for winning the best presentation award at the annual Postdoc Research Day.

 

The Postdoc Research Day is an event that introduces the entire lab to the outstanding work of postdoctoral scholars in Earth science, astrophysics and space science, planetary science and life detection, and technology, instrumentation and engineering. In 2020, each postdoc participant posted an audio presentation that was assessed by judges.

 

The winners delivered lectures on their work at the January 28th awards ceremony and received commemorative plaques from the Office of the Chief Scientist and Chief Technologist.

 

The awardees are:

• ​Nathan Bush for his presentation on Optimization of photon counting sensors for direct exoplanet imaging
• Madeleine Pascolini-Campbell for her presentation on GRACE-FO and ECOSTRESS synergies quantify the human impact on the water cycle
• Thomas Frederikse for his presentation on The causes of sea-level rise since 1900
• Miranda Kok for her presentation on Towards analysis of fatty acids in ocean world samples
• Chang Sub Kim for his presentation on Developing Wafer-scale MgB2 Superconducting Thin Films
