William Humphreys

William Humphreys joined the NASA Langley Research Center as a member of the Instrument Research Division in 1986 where he became a team lead on development of Laser Transit Anemometry and Particle Image Velocimetry diagnostics used in Langley wind tunnels. He is currently the Chief Engineer for Measurement Sciences in the Research Directorate at Langley. Prior to his present assignment, Mr. Humphreys was the Assistant Head of the Advanced Measurement and Data Systems Branch as well as a senior researcher in the Aeroacoustics Branch at Langley, where he conducted research and development of advanced measurement diagnostics for acoustic testing.

Mr. Humphreys received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.E. in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and 1993, respectively, from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He is an author or co-author of over 70 conference papers and refereed journal articles and is co-inventor on four issued patents. He is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA and a member of the IEEE
