Abstract

Working from home has come to dominate organizations since the pandemic began, but what will the future hold? What should firms and employers do? How will that affect all of us in terms of our jobs, working days, commutes and real-estate decisions? Nick will present data on the future of working from home (WFH). For example, WFH saves employees about 70 minutes a day on average – most (about 60 minutes) from no commute, and the rest (about 10 minutes) from less preparation in the morning – see the figure below. About 1/2 of this saved time goes to working more and 1/2 to leisure/tasks, so employers and employees benefit.
