A large group of sunspots that rotated across the sun over six days, Aug. 21-26, 2015, started out as a single cluster, but gradually separated into distinct groups. This region produced several medium-sized, or M-class, flares, but only one greater than M5-class. These were the only significant spots on the sun during this period. The still image shows the separated group as it appeared on Aug. 26, 2015. Credit: NASA/SDO
